Many bloggers choose to include the post date in their WordPress posts. However, there is not a simple solution to insert current date and/or time info into a post or page.
Example of Use for Inserting Current Date Timestamp
You’ve created a page where you post market updates and want your readers to know that the information is relevant to the current market. You re-visit the page often as the market changes, while always ensuring your readers that they are getting accurate information.
Function Code to Insert Current Date / Time
The function below will create a date shortcode that you can easily use to insert date information into any post or page. The date and/or time will change dynamically each time the post or page is loaded.
Drop this code into your functions.php file to activate the dynamic date shortcode.
If you are using the Genesis Theme Framework, simply remove the opening php tag.
Customizing the Date and Time Output
To change the format of the date / time output, refer to the PHP guide for the various parameters available for timestamps.
